Kidsource Kids will be sponsoring the 10th Annual Fall Fest this October! Fall Fest was one of the first events that Kidsource Kids created to provide community building opportunities for families. The festival originated in response to the difficulties a lot of children with special needs face when they attend public events like carnivals or fairs. We knew that these kids needed a place where the opportunity for fun was not impacted by large crowds, an excess of sensory stimulation, peer intimidation, or a lack of handicap accessibility.
Fall Fest strives to meet the needs of children with special needs and their families and create a venue that emphasizes fun without judgement. During the festival, kids with Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida, Autism, and a variety of other diagnoses are able to fully participate in community activities alongside their families. The kids spend their time eating, playing games, trunk or treating, and participating in activities designed to meet their needs.
Over the past 10 years, Fall Fest has grown in both attendance and size. Each year the Fall Fest committee tries to come up with new and exciting additions that have included a petting zoo, fire trucks, and horseback rides to entertain our crowds of up to 300 people. This past year Fall Fest added a food drive where families attending the festival donated food that was later delivered to families during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The food drive has allowed us to put children and families first while simultaneously strengthening the community through the cycle of giving.
Our goal is to make Fall Fest 2017 the biggest and most exciting year yet! We will continue to provide children a safe place to dress up in costumes, play games, and just enjoy being a kid with their families and friends. It’s truly a GREAT time!
