Kidsource encourages community involvement. We have these five areas, held throughout the year, where volunteers are encouraged to participate:
KIDSOURCE 5K- STRIDES FOR SLIDES (May 7, 2016)
KidSource Strides for Slides is our annual 5K fun run/walk to raise funds for community projects, scholarships for our hippotherapy program, and playground equipment for children with special needs. It will be held on Saturday May 7, 2016 at 8 AM. The race will start and end at Two Rivers Park off the Arkansas River Trail system in Little Rock. Run or walk in this fun, family and pet friendly event. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash. We will also be doing a Tot-Trot dash/wheelchair race that is an untimed separate race for children under the age of 5 and/or for children with disabilities.
Volunteers are needed and much appreciated for KidSource Strides for Slides. We use volunteers to assist with race day activities such as pack pick-up, race day registration, water and aid stations, awards, and various other tasks needed during the event
MULLET MADNESS (Aug. 26,2016)
Mullet Madness is our annual fundraiser event that raises money for KidSource Kids. Mullet Madness is an 80s themed event that includes a silent auction, live music, a raffle, food, and drinks! The money raised at Mullet Madness goes towards the many events and programs that KidSource Kids sponsors. It will be at Next Level Events on August 26, 2016 from 7-11 PM. Volunteers are definitely needed and appreciated for Mullet Madness. We use volunteers for raffle ticket sales, silent auction monitoring, greeters at the door, sponsor table check in, and any other things needed during the event.
SENSORY SANTA (Dec. 3, 2016)
FALL FESTIVAL (Oct. 21, 2016)
The Fall Festival is done every year around Halloween for our clients and families with special needs. This is an annual event. Games, horse rides, bounce houses, hot dogs and roasting marshmallows are just a few of the activities the children can enjoy. This event was created because all children can not participate in regular festivals. Many of the therapist volunteer, which also makes the environment familiar. We have done this festival for at least 10 years. It gets bigger and better every year!
FREE TO BE ME ARTS (March 5, 2016)
Free To Be Me Arts is a program that provides opportunities for central Arkansas's disabled children population to create and share art. Art is a venue for self expression that builds confidence and gives voice to children who otherwise may not be able to express themselves traditionally.
The Free To Be Me Arts program recruits local artists to partner with pediatric therapists for the development and teaching of art lessons to disabled children. The artists lend their expertise using a variety of art mediums and the therapists help tailor the art project to fit the specific needs of each child according to their developmental age and diagnosis.
There are several of these art lessons each year and the lessons occur in different settings. Each year there is a formal gallery display of the children's art where they have the option of presenting their projects to the community, show casing themselves in a creative, powerful, and beautiful way.
Volunteers needed to keep this project going are professional artists, curators, therapists, students, and family members. Volunteers help in the development, set up, project management, and planning of the art events throughout the year.
Freedom Reins is a hippotherapy program devoted to the promotion of independence for children with special needs...one hoof print at a time. For volunteer information firstname.lastname@example.org
